class action against UK Government and the Mayor of London?

Contrary to the Government’s and the MOL’s repeated assurances that the Olympic Games would be a financial bonanza for businesses and they should “gear up” accordingly, particularly in Central London, reports suggest that in fact business took a financial nosedive during the Games and many parts of Central London were effectively deserted.

The Government/MOL arguably ought to have known that there was no basis in fact for giving such assurances, based on various reports which followed Olympic Games in other cities.

It could be said that the Government and the MOL misled the public and caused businesses to suffer a financial loss as a result. If an individual business were able to satisfy certain legal criteria, they may be able to claim for financial losses suffered.
