Gregory Abrams Davidson LLP - Specialist Dental Negligence Solicitors: Crowns

Here at Gregory Abrams Davidson Solicitors, we have a specialist Dental Negligence Department dealing with a variety of dental negligence claims. Your case will be handled by a fully qualified Solicitor who specialises in claims of this type.

We can assist in cases concerning failed dental crowns.

A crown is a type of dental restoration which completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant.  Crowns are often needed when a large cavity threatens the ongoing health of a tooth.   They are typically bonded to the tooth using dental cement.

Crowns are often used to improve the strength or appearance of teeth.  The most common method of crowning a tooth is by taking a dental impression of the prepared tooth and then having the crown made at a dental laboratory. The crown can then be inserted at a subsequent dental appointment.

WHY CAN PROBLEMS DEVELOP?

For the successful placement of any crown, it is essential that they are of such accuracy that the gap between the crown and the tooth cannot be seen with the naked eye or allow entry of the tip of a probe.  In addition, overhangs or deficiencies should not exceed 0.5mm and the embrasures should be large enough to allow access for oral hygiene measures.

Failure to achieve these long recognised standards can result in decay developing in the underlying tooth and the crown will inevitably fail.

If you believe you have suffered an injury as a result of poor dental treatment, we would recommend that you contact us to arrange a consultation with a specialist dental negligence Solicitor.

Ban on Corporate Directors

At present, UK companies are permitted to have corporate directors – that is, one or more legal persons (such as a company or limited liability partnership) who are directors – so long as one director is a natural person (i.e. an individual).

This is to change later this year, as part of the Government’s drive to improve the transparency of UK company ownership and control.

The Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015, which received Royal Assent in March 2015, introduced a ban on corporate directors and those provisions are currently expected to come into force in October 2016 (having been delayed from October 2015).

FOR MORE INFORMATION Should you wish to discuss the matters raised in this briefing, please speak with a member of our Corporate and Commercial team below, or your regular contact at Gregory Abrams Davidson Solicitors on 020 8209 0166 (London) and 0808 164 0683 (Liverpool).
