Our client who was shopping at a local supermarket suffered a fractured patella after stepping onto a sign left negligently on the floor, resulting in considerable pain and distress.

 

The Insurers for the store were quick to admit liability but when it came to settlement, their offer was based on outdated 2006 case law, which did not reflect the severity of our client’s injuries. The firm acted swiftly, challenging the insurers’ reliance on irrelevant precedent and insisting on a fair evaluation. Following constructive discussions, we successfully negotiated an offer of £18,000.

 

Unfortunately, rather than honouring their offer, the Insurers employed an underhand tactic, offering a lower sum and requesting our client’s medical records in an attempt to weaken the claim. Our client was understandably frustrated by this tactic, but we assured her that we would not give up until she received the compensation she deserved.

 

We immediately contacted the insurers, reminding them of the agreement and firmly refusing any lower offers. Through tenacity and legal expertise, the team successfully re-negotiated the original settlement offer of £18,000—ensuring our client received the compensation she was rightfully owed.
